Bio

Artist, Photographer, and Educator

 

Christina Mears was raised in the interior of BC, later moving to the coastal community of White Rock. Art has always been a big part of her life, as was enjoying the outdoors. She spent many summers hiking, fishing and camping along the coastline. She was inspired to pursue a BFA in Painting at UBC where she painted large, abstracted land forms, inspired by her travels. Her recent paintings are expressive cityscapes and moody coastal landscapes in oil and acrylic. Christina’s artwork and photography have been exhibited at The Burnaby Art Gallery, Eastside Culture Crawl and The Turnbull Gallery. She has always loved working with children and youth, studying art education at SFU and UBC for her Masters of Education. Christina has been teaching art to children and youth in the lower mainland for 19 years. Christina is a practising artist & illustrator, currently teaching art and photography at Surrey’s Tamanawis Secondary School.
